contrary to popular belief, cookies are not dangerous. The only real security issue are in regard to browsing privacy. Some companies may try to track your browsing and buying habits and sell this information to other companies to exploit (obviously we do not have any such intentions). Cookies are limited functionally, and can not, for example, reformat your hard drive.
A cookie is a small amount of data, which often includes an anonymous unique identifier, that is sent to your browser from a web site's computers and stored on your computer's hard drive.
Each web site can send its own cookie to your browser if your browser's preferences allow it, but (to protect your privacy) your browser only permits a web site to access the cookies it has already sent to you, not the cookies sent to you by other sites.
Choices about Cookies
You can configure your browser to accept all cookies, reject all cookies, or notify you when a cookie is set. (Each browser is different, so check the "Help" menu of your browser to learn how to change your cookie preferences.)
If you reject all cookies, you will not be able to use RDL's personalization service and may have some difficulties with some services such as our listing services registration and management that require you to "login". In other words you may not be able to take full advantage of all offerings. However, listing searches (currently just for meetings) do not require that you accept cookies.
RDL's Practices Regarding Cookies
RDL uses its own cookies for a number of purposes, including to:
Access your information when you enter the site, so that we can provide you with customized content, such as your last used search preferences.
Eventually we may use them to display the most appropriate advertising banners, based on your interests and activity on RDL. Estimate and report our total audience size and traffic. Conduct research to improve RDL's content and services. We may eventually also require you to re-enter your RDL password if in sensitive areas, such as account management, after a certain period of time has elapsed to protect you against others accidentally accessing your account contents.
Other Companies' Cookies on RDL.
At this time we do not plan to allow other companies (ie. advertisers) to set and access their cookies on your computer, however this policy is subject to change
